Song of the day: “The Letter” by The Box Tops

In memory of Alex Chilton, who died yesterday at the age of 59. Chilton was the lead singer of The Box Tops, who had a #1 hit with “The Letter” in 1967, when he was only 17 years old. He joined the power-pop group Big Star in the early 70s, and while you may be less familiar with their output, their song “In The Street” was later used as the theme song for That 70’s Show.
